Cotopaxi National Park in Ecuador:

Cajas National Park in Ecuador:

Located in the province of Azuay, in southern Ecuador, lies the enchanting Cajas National Park. Unlike its northern counterparts, this park is nestled in the older Andean mountain range, characterized by less volcanic activity and fewer towering peaks. Instead, it unveils vast, picturesque highland plains that collect an abundance of water, creating a mesmerizing sight.

Within the park’s boundaries, a plethora of water bodies awaits exploration. Astonishingly, there have been approximately 165 lakes spanning over 1 hectare in size, accompanied by 621 smaller ones. In total, a grand sum of 786 bodies of water grace this landscape. Perhaps, only the majestic condors soaring above can truly appreciate the park’s genuine form from their aerial vantage point. There is no experience as peaceful as hiking through the Cajas National Park.
